The Trip in Short

If you only do one big Tanzania trip in your life, this is roughly the shape of it. A Marangu Route climb takes up the first week, using its hut-based comfort and shorter schedule to keep the mountain section manageable. From the mountain it is straight into Tarangire and the Serengeti for four days of proper game driving, then a flight to Zanzibar for five nights of doing very little at all.

Fourteen days is enough for each section to feel complete rather than compressed, and the sequence (mountain, then wildlife, then beach) itself gives your body a sensible recovery curve rather than asking the most of it last.

Park fees and rules on the Tanzanian mainland are set by Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA).

Highlights

  • Six-day Marangu Route climb to Uhuru Peak, 5,895 metres
  • Tarangire's elephant herds and baobab landscape
  • Multi-day Serengeti game drives around Seronera
  • Five nights beach relaxation on Zanzibar's coast at Kendwa
  • A sensible mountain-then-wildlife-then-beach recovery sequence
  • One of our most complete single-trip introductions to Tanzania

Before You Book

Why Marangu rather than Lemosho for this itinerary?

Mainly schedule: Marangu's five or six days keep the mountain section from taking over the whole trip, though its summit success rate is lower than Lemosho's eight-day route; ask about swapping routes if summiting is your top priority.

Is it too much to climb, safari and beach all in one trip?

It is a full fourteen days, but each section is genuinely restful relative to the one before it: the safari is far less physically demanding than the climb, and the beach is more restful still.

Do we need separate visas for Tanzania and Zanzibar?

No: one Tanzania visa covers both, though immigration is checked again on arrival in Zanzibar.

Can we swap Kendwa for Nungwi or Paje?

Yes: the beach section is flexible; let us know your preference when booking.
