The Maasai and Samburu are related peoples, sharing a language family and a pastoral tradition, but they live in different country and their daily lives look different as a result. This trip visits both on their own terms, with village visits arranged through community-run programmes rather than a roadside stop, alongside a full safari programme in the Mara and Samburu National Reserve.
The aim is context as much as wildlife: understanding why cattle matter the way they do, how beadwork patterns communicate age and status, and how a community that predates the parks around it has adapted to living beside them.
Fees and rules in Kenya's national parks are set by the Kenya Wildlife Service.
