Travelling with children changes what a safari should look like. Long driving days wear kids out faster than adults, and a schedule with no slack turns tired quickly into miserable. This trip keeps to two parks that are close enough together to avoid marathon transfers, and it front-loads the sort of moments that keep young travellers engaged: a Maasai village, a giraffe centre, a steak dinner with warthogs wandering the car park.
It runs on a private vehicle for the whole family, with a guide used to explaining what’s happening in language that works for an eight-year-old as well as a grandparent.
Fees and rules in Kenya's national parks are set by the Kenya Wildlife Service.
