The Omo Valley is home to a dense concentration of small, culturally distinct groups – Mursi, Hamar, Karo and others – in a fairly compact stretch of southern Ethiopia. It’s also become a well-worn photographic circuit, and that history shapes how we run this trip: local guides who work directly with community members, agreed photography arrangements rather than improvised transactions, and time spent talking before cameras come out.
Arba Minch and the Rift Valley lakes bookend the route, giving genuine landscape and birding interest alongside the cultural focus.
